delighting in the details…

forgive me for the infrequent posting this week. after months of procrastinating, i’ve finally revisited the to-do list for our wedding. since most of the big decisions have been worked out, we’re having a wonderful time refining the little details. nick has a sharp new wardrobe, the invitations are coming along nicely, and we’re brainstorming some really delicious signature cocktails. yum!

if you have any suggestions for cocktails that would be good for an october wedding- lemme know! that raspberry mint cocktail is calling my name right now…

not super fallish but I’m always a fan of the St Germain & Champagne cocktail…

This post is lovely. I really love the business card there…so different from what you normally see. An October wedding? If it’s a little bit chilly and you’re looking for more cozy cocktails, maybe look at some “old man” cocktails…perhaps a few simplistic things from the prohobition era. A little hot toddy? :)

My sister in law gave me a giada de laurentiis cookbook one year for christmas and I was a little skeptical at first, but I was won over by the recipe for chicken breast in a saffron white wine sauce.
Anyway, she also had a recipe for an apple thyme martini. Apples are sort of autumn-y and garnishing with a sprig of thyme makes the drink so pretty! Here’s the url for the recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/apple-and-thyme-martini-recipe/index.html

Here in New Orleans we don’t have much of a fall, but we have a fantastic cocktail bar that makes a Moscow Mule that is perfect for the season. It is made with ginger beer and vodka, with a little lime and mint. Traditionally served in a copper mug, that would match fall colors in a really wonderful way.

I’m so jealous of you! Growing up in a conservative religious family, my parents would have a heart attack if I served cocktails at our wedding. That would be so much fun to plan a cocktail menu. I constantly see amazing concoctions on the Kitchn. http://www.thekitchn.com/

YUM. you guys- those are some seriously tasty sounding cocktails. I’m crazy about St. Germain- i imagine it would pair perfectly with champagne.

I’m also getting hitched in October, and we’re relying heavily on hard cider, gewertztraminer (spelling???) and other spicy/crisp sippies. Moscow Mules are a terrific idea as well!
