no shoe for you.

one of the benefits of moving to a new home is having the opportunity to take inventory of the things you’ve collected over time. for many years, i was really, really into shoes. i bought them in such quantity that when i got my own apartment, they had their own closet. i would carefully display them and admire with great self-satisfaction, how mighty fine they all looked as a collective whole.

but with the wedding coming up, i’ve made some decidedly adult-ish financial changes. with a heavy heart, i slashed my credit cards and set a new budget, which just doesn’t have the room for shoe purchases. so i took a look through my collection after the move. folks- things are looking grim. I have a few pristine beauties amongst a modest selection of neutral pumps and metallic flats. an embellishment here and there. a pair of kick ass motorcycle boots and summery striped espadrilles. but many of my old favorites look really sad and need a trip to the shoe repairman. i fear that many of them are not salvageable.

so you can only imagine the stew of jealously and self-pity brewing in my stomach when i see images like these. the color! the variety! the unexpected patterning! omg that heel! the flipping awesomeness of those pradas! miu miu, i heart you! I feel delight. joy. then i might whimper a bit, shed some tears, which are likely followed by a crippling depression.

just kidding. but it goes something like that.

so these images are all i’ve got these days. send me your drool-worthy shoe blogs, people. i’m a woman with problem. i do realize this post probably doesn’t make much sense, although it does give you a peek at the delirium of my retail-addiction withdrawal. why don’t we just file this post under the “oddities” category and be done with it. rant, over.

Oh! I know how you feel!! I finally broke my shoe addiction a few years ago…sold all my collection on ebay and paid off quite a few credit cards…completely worth it and now I’m pretty happy admiring other girl’s collections and keeping comfy in my flats :)

shoes are most certainly my favourite fashion item. mine take up a whole bookcase and a lot of skirting-board space (i think a second set of shelves may be a solid investment some time soon). but i don’t have that much in the way of resources, so it’s a collection that’s taken years, and in the meantime i content myself with looking at elle magazine’s shoe diary (http://fashion.elle.com/blog/elle-shoe-diary/), http://www.shoeblog.com/, and photos of daphne guinness.

my favourite shoe photos are definitely the in-situ ones, like the closet shots you put up – though the refrigerator display is also pretty awesome! hope you find some spare shoe-money soon – or at least many more gorgeous pictures…

wow, drooling over here (and i’m not even a shoe girl). i put myself through a similar self-help regiment after some serious handbag problems… but these gorgeous photos are (almost?) as good as the real thing!

the only thing rivaling this girl’s shoe fetish is the love of handbags — with an impending wedding, can completely understand your plight — however, that doesn’t mean you couldn’t resume your shoe-love after the “i do’s”. . .

thanks for the link-love,
xo

hah, aw!! it might be necessary to etch out a shoe budget, if only to retain sanity ;) also.. shoemakers really can work wonders, so you should definitely try to restore what you love!
