Yeah- I said it. I have the holidays on the brain.
It’s like Christmas barged in here, stole Thanksgivings thunder, and infected me with Holiday Cheerâ„¢. I’ve even decided how to decorate the tree, which means I’ve become one of those people I use to hate.
Anyway- the dress. The peak-a-boo slit and flowing fabric means you can indulge in those cookies without worry. I’m always a fan of the high-low look, plus you get a bit of sparkle without looking like a disco ball. Everybody wins.

If I had all the money in the world, these are a few pieces I’d love to be pairing up this fall. Mixing patterns and textures is my fave right now.
vest / striped sweater / leather crop top / polka dot blouse / printed top / leather skirt / heart sweater / velvet skirt / plaid pants / boots / scarf / bag
* (heart sweater is sold out, but there is a similar style at asos, thanks lisanne!

ANVE makes gorgeous limited addition objects from quality materials. I’m particularly drawn to these leather bags constructed with folds that mimic paper sacks. so pretty.

They may be tiny, but that doesn’t make them less beautiful. Kathleen Whitaker has a nice eye for minimalist jewelry design and porcelain ceramics.

Graphic patterns. Color-blocking. Metallic. Just a few trends that I think translate really well into footwear.
1. Jeffery Campbell Dressen, $199.95 / 2. ASOS MARS Metallic Loafer Shoes, $50.32 / 3. ALDO Buschur Dalmatian Slippers, $125.79 / 4. Matiko Madison Black & Orange Color Block Wedge Ankle Booties, $193.00

Rei Kawakubo recently launched a new line of pretty Cambridge bags that are going to start popping up in stores. Loving the shiny rose-tinted metallic we’ve been seeing, especially on the A. Wang shoes.

Two stylish ladies. One enamoured Kate.
Layering takes skill and a good eye, but I’m truly in awe of those women who can make the simplest looks effortless and current all at once.

How many of you ladies steal your man’s comfy clothes on a chilly evening? The good news is that you now have another excuse to wear his garb outdoors, thanks to the resurgence of menswear-inspired women’s clothing. GQ recently did an interview with model Georgia Fowler on the subject, and I loved the casually chic styling. I’m really into that untied bowtie.
Menswear has influenced how I get dressed lately, especially with the help of Tomboy Style, and Girlsack. The courage to wear a tie is one thing I’m still working on, but the untied bowtie is an easier look for me. I’m all for adding feminine touches to menswear outfits, like a lacy bra or tiny gold bracelet, plus minimal makeup, natural lip, long lashes and tousled hair.

it is hard for me to wrap my head around the idea of designer clothing for kids. i mean, they can grow out of an outfit over lunchtime, right? however, i do get a kick out of things i like in miniature form. so for me, tiny (impeccable) outfits + tiny (fashionable) kids = CUTE OVERLOAD.
this little fashionista reminds me of suri cruise, who’s seemingly discerning tastes inspired this awesome tumblr blog, Suri’s Burn Book. seriously, it’s hilarious and i want to be fictional suri’s BFF.

every season there are looks that i just can’t do. it’s not that i don’t think they look great on other women. i just look like a total clown in certain faux-pas we’ve revisited lately. For example: overalls, bermuda shorts, and drop crotch pants… all looks i admire from far, far away, in my comfy spectator seat. to the women blessed with the swag (and/or legs) to make those work, WORD.
lately, some very chic women pooh-poohed the shared thought that denim is not to be paired with others of its kind. and i have to say, this is one faux pas that i’m embracing this season. i’ve worn something similar in contrasting denims (lighter top and darker jeans), and really liked the ease of the look. the key, as always, is in choosing the right cut and proportion for your body. personally, i think a denim top without the “western” embellishments helps a great deal.
have you done denim on denim yet?

no fuss, no frills. that’s what i love about monochromatic palettes. i’m really into shades of camel and cream right now, especially after running across this photo taken by caroline mode. it’s a great palette for adding a pop of red, like say, this mcqueen scarf.

every girl needs an outfit to throw on at a moments notice. an outfit that can be worn just about anywhere, and recycled again and again. cue this classic combination: a trench coat paired with a black cashmere sweater, cigarette jeans, black pumps and a no-fuss top knot. it’s autumn’s answer to summer’s versatile sundress, and chances are you already have most of these pieces in your closet. there are few accessories that won’t compliment this basic look, which anyone can wear with effortless elegance. swap heels for flats, or the structured bag for a buttery leather hobo. choose a statement necklace, or opt for a wrist full of bracelets. what about you? do you have a favorite “go-to” look this autumn?
