this may seem a little strange, but i’ve found that bathrooms are one of my favorite places to find design inspiration. what isn’t to love about this light and airy space from marie claire italy? i saw this image a while back on desire to inspire, (they put together a great round-up of antique tubs… swoon). not only is the color great in this space, i’m completely sold on the idea of having a bathtub that stands in the center of a room. so, i decided to pull together a bathroom look inspired by this space. it’s a little moody, romantic, and definitely a place that calls for a long bath with a cocktail in hand. now if i could just find a home with those herringbone floors…

i hope you all had a nice weekend! i spent mine moving into a new apartment. it’s completely adorable and more my style than the loft space i just left. i’m not totally unpacked, but i thought i’d post a few pictures that i shared with friends and family this weekend.

Clean lines, pops of color, industrial lighting, eclectic curation of art, rustic accents, and tall ceilings… what’s not to love about Antia Calero’s Chelsea loft?

how wonderful it would be to have orange trees in my entryway.
you can learn a bit about growing citrus plants indoors here, if you are interested.

i am so excited to share a few images from the copy of at your leisure i received in the mail yesterday. at your leisure is the brain child of jonathan lo, who is an editor at happy mundane and an art director at J3 productions.
what i love about the zine is the mix of art, interiors, and fashion. the homes they featured are amazing, i flagged nearly every single page. there’s even a little eye candy for the ladies, model Joshua Kloss graces a few spreads, looking mighty fine.
head on over toat your leisure to order a copy! i can’t wait until vol. 3!

peggy’s post for flor really struck a cord with me. you see, this is my dream home. this teeny tiny urban space sandwiched between two traditional buildings.
i’ve never aspired to live in a huge house on a vast plot of land. we might change our tune as our lives evolve and change, but right now, nick and i both like the idea of making use of smaller spaces.
the home i dream of is utilitarian, sustainably designed, both beautiful and functional, with loads of natural light. we’re years away from embarking on this sort of project, but posts peggy’s are incredibly exciting. i want the future to hurry up and get here.

i don’t use this color palette often enough. cream and blue is such a nice alternative to black and white, don’t you think?

the new offerings at FLOR pack a mighty punch! loving these images from their new line.

i’ve never been totally comfortable or confident when it comes to interiors, particularly my own. i know what i like, but when it comes to actually putting the whole room together, i’m lost. i seem to focus only on the little details, which is why these images from the society inc resonate with me. but tying everything together in a perfectly effortless, NON matchy-matchy way, i’m totally overwhelmed. i follow loads of interior design blogs. they leave me pretty much speechless, especially her, her, and her (have you SEEN her home?). they’re so good, it’s ridic.
alas, i am not happy with the state of my current abode. we’ve already received some really lovely wedding gifts from friends and family, which only increases the itch to give my home little sprucing up. it is hard to put my finger on it, but our home doesn’t feel like home, yet.
with that being said, i’m making the commitment here and now to start posting ideas and inspiration for each room of our house. we will start small and budget friendly, with a lil’ bit of DIY, because we’re on quite the strict budget, and living in an apartment. i’d love your feedback, your opinions, your advice, and if you feel inclined to share, send me to your favorite interior inspiration sites. and stay tuned. this will be an interesting ride.

eek! shelter pop did a little sneak peak featuring the newest decorating mag to hit the web, Rue Magazine, who’s co-founder happens to be one of my all-time favorite bloggers, Anne Sage (of City Sage fame). i’m so excited to see what happens when these talented girls collaborate… i think my head might explode at just the thought!

i’m heading to my grandparents house tonight to pick up a very special wedding present… two bertoia diamond lounge chairs that my grandparents bought in the 60′s. i was obsessed with them as a child, and that love was validated when i went to design school and fell head over heels with mid-century furniture. i have no doubt that they’ll be well loved in our home!

i’m a big fan of chalkboard paint. i even have a can of it ready to be applied to an old vintage frame (still trying to find the time to do that).
so naturally- i was gaga over these images from the anthropologie july catalog over a poppytalk. what a gorgeous way to add a little imagination to a room. take a look at the rest of the images over at poppytalk!

so, yeah. we’ve all seen this flippin’ ridiculous sneak peek at design*sponge today. i need that headboard, duvet, trunk, suitcase, and those amazing warehouse windows. to put it bluntly, i love everything that is going on here. and where can i get one of those awesome light bulb chandeliers? hey-nick, wanna make one for me? pretty, pretty please?
oh, and happy monday!

it’s a little drizzly in the twin cities today and i have to say, i really don’t mind it. the light gray sky makes everything so soft and monotone. so in honor of my favorite kind of day- a few things soft, sheer and lightly gray.

this is one of those homes that just makes my jaw drop because it’s original, relaxed, eclectic, cozy, lived in, and stylish all at once. and while i usually gravitate towards more polished spaces- this one speaks to my inner funk.
the design duo’s home in portland was shot for domino’s march 2007 issue and i’ve kept a little post-it note in my copy ever since. these images still resonate with me the same way they did 3 years ago, so i did a little internet scouring to find a few additional images of the space. i found a few gems on apartment therapy and i was thrilled to see the current state of the meyers home; same general aesthetic, with some very inspiring updates! check out the rest of their portfolio here.

for your home. and for your feet.
i’m seriously crushing on this living room. so feminine with the whimsy wall art, shiny robin’s egg blue floor, the mix of patterning, and classic furniture. not to mention the wallpaper is perfection!

loving these moody images from twig hutchinson…
