hi there. i want you to meet Fredrick, Mavis and Ignatius. they are handmade in Gujarat, India and are a fair-trade product whose sale benefits communities in need. as they are really too cute for words, all i can say is that i must have them all.
here’s a little bit about my favorite, Ignatius the Critter:
“Ignatius is a very curious critter and loves to explore and sniff out new adventures with his pointy little nose. If you ever go on a trip to a new place, Ignatius is a very good companion because he is brave and adventurous and always discovers new and fun things to do!
Ignatius is a very good climber and his long spindly legs mean that he can wrap himself excellently around tree branches or play equipment – he does, however, have a little trouble balancing when he walks, and you may need to hold one of his hands to help him along.
Ignatius is extremely ticklish and has a contagious laugh. If ever Ignatius is in a sad mood, just tickle the bottoms of his feet. This will definitely cheer him up.
Before Ignatius was a fully-grown critter, he lived inside a cocoon for 3 months, just like a butterfly. Should you ever find Ignatius down at the very end of your bed, hiding under your sheets and blankets, don’t worry: he isn’t upset. He is just pretending that he is back in his cocoon in India.
Critters love thunderstorms, and although they really don’t like to get wet, they love to listen to the thunder from inside the house. Whenever there is a thunderstorm, make sure that Ignatius is somewhere where he can hear it. Window sills are best.
You can’t really tell from looking at them, but Critters are excellent dancers, and Ignatius is especially good at it. Just put on some music and Ignatius will dance with you all day long!

these little guys were found while nick and i began to set up our registry. they may look a little out of place next to the frying pan and blender, but we just couldn’t resist!
check out our fun new bed side lamps. they look a little bit bright here but nick hooked them up with dimmer switches so we can adjust the intensity. i feel like i could get a tan if i sat next to one long enough.
anyone want to tell me where november went!? i blink twice and its thanksgiving. but i’m psyched up about turkeys. stuffing. pumpkin bread. and pie… as this year i will also be giving thanks for getting a teeny tiny bit of a break from my very long to do list! things have been excitingly busy around here and i’m looking forward to sharing some of the things i’ve been working on. the good people at cue are hauling a** right now, getting ready to roll out a whole slew of new work (2 years in the making) that we are all anxiously excited to share with the world. i’ve also have some new freelance and blogging opportunities that i am VERY excited to share with you. so sit tight, cross my heart and kiss my elbow, i’ll be sharing good things with you soon*.

nick and i took our engagement photos last week at an apple orchard outside of the city. we brought a picnic basket with a baguette, brie and olives and enjoyed a perfect fall evening. eric, our photographer, captured some stunning photographs! be sure to check out his blog and portfolio, he’s incredibly talented and focused, I can’t wait to see the work he produces in the future.
i bought a romona kevaza wedding dress on saturday and i’ve had this funky/giddy/excited feeling in my stomach since i tried it on. so today i am posting images that have been sitting on my desktop for quite some time- for no reason other than that they give me the same feeling as my beautiful dress (which is not pictured below).
we’ve got another wedding this weekend! we’re heading back to my home town to see one of my high school girlfriends get married. i really can’t wait to be home… all i am thinking about is chomping into a delicious portillo’s cheeseburger as soon as we roll down randall road. nothing says “welcome home” better than that… well… besides my parents.

we’re working on putting up a little website/blog for all of our wedding planning and couple-ish adventures. most of our friends and family live far away and we’d like to keep them up to date and as informed as they want to be. we want our wedding to (at least) seem cohesive and simple, so i started with i know best, an icon that incorporates our look and feel.
i’m doing some odds and ends today that are wedding related… mainly deciding on a color palette so I can get my bridesmaids-to-be their official invitations (more on those later). i already decided long ago that i didn’t want my bridesmaids to match. they are all so unique in their own right, i want everyone to see the personality and style of people closest to me. SO that means giving them some idea of the color palette and letting them run free.
the space we decided on is very different than the one i had imagined having my wedding in. an industrial type place with lofted ceilings and exposed brick was always at the top of my mind, and then I got roped into the idea of doing ( the some-what-trendy) barn wedding. turns out i’m not a hardcore outdoorsy type and the industrial spaces available left either too many restrictions or too much time and effort to transform. so, we ended up at a mansion. there couldn’t be a space more romantic and perfect for our “great gatsby” inspired evening, i don’t know why it took me so long to come around to it.
the ballroom is surprisingly light and soft, with cool blues and gold tones throughout the fresco painted ceiling, light-gold cushioned seating around the periphery of the room, and an old stain glass window between two sets of french doors.
so we’ve settled on these colors: light silver/gray, charcoal, champagne, pale blueish gray, and a pink champagne. Those are totally made up names for very specific colors, mainly 3 shades of gray, a light gold and a light pink. Oh boy.
